Emily West is a professional musician active in East Central and Central Indiana. Emily’s musical journey began in elementary school when she began taking piano lessons and continued throughout high school when she began taking harp instruction and providing piano lessons to the community. She holds a Masters Degree in Harp Performance with an Arts Administration Certification from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor’s Degree in Harp Performance with a secondary instrument study in Piano from Ball State University. Emily’s harp instructors include Jaclyn Wappel, Elizabeth Richter, Joanne King, and Janet Harriman. In her secondary instrument study of piano at Ball State University, Emily studied under Ruth Oh and Alessandro Riccardi. As a harpist, Emily performs professionally throughout East Central Indiana and is an instructor of harp at the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy and the Pearl Arts Music Academy in Fort Wayne. Recognized internationally for her artistry, Emily holds multiple awards in harp including first prize in the Jan Pennington Harp Competition, first prize in the International Clara Schumann Competition, and first prize in the London Young Musicians Competition. Emily is passionate about sharing her love of music and providing musical learning opportunities to the communities of East Central Indiana and beyond.
